Welcome to the web site of Senate District 58 Republicans.

We welcome anyone concerned with the implementation of honest, efficient, and responsive government. The SD 58 Republicans believe in these principles as stated in the Declaration of Independence: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Therefore, it is the party committed to equal representation, opportunity for all, and preservation of the rights of each individual. As Republicans, we are committed to equal opportunity for full participation in our civic life for all residents who believe in these principles, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, or social or economic status. Whether you are a newcomer or veteran activist looking to plug in to local grassroots politics; or interested in running for office, please contact us regarding how we can help you get involved and/or be of assistance to you.

Please know that our Full Committee meets about 4 times per year, these meetings are always open to the public, and are a great place to start getting involved. Watch the events calander for upcoming meetings and events.

Juneteenth Parade Wrap-Up And BIG Thank You!

Well the Juneteenth parade was a big success - most people I've talked to agreed that we had the best float in the parade. More importantly we delivered our message - that it was Republicans who were there on Galveston Island on June 19, 1865 freeing the slaves from their bondage. It seems that some of the people at Juneteenth were under the mistaken impression that it was Democrats who freed the slaves!

Furthermore our candidates Barb Davis White, Grant Cermak and Yoman Brunson had a great opportunity to meet the people of the northside and talk about liberty and freedom from the chains of government tyranny.

I've posted some pictures from the float building party on June 20. You can access them via this link.

Thank you very much to all of you who participated - you did wonderful work and it really paid off!

Mission accomplished.

-Diogenes

Please Help

Grant and Yoman need our help. They both would like to hear from you about the needs of our community and how to make it better. Please share your wisdom and experiences with them. They know that taxing the poor and middle class is not the answer like the Democrats of our city keep raising. They have seen the school enrollment in our neighborhoods is declining and the quality of education is not getting better. They need your help to turn this around. Please invite them to a neighborhood gathering and let them hear from you.

Senate District 58 Republicans Convention Results

We Endorsed:

•Grant Cermak For House District 58A and
•Yoman Brunson For House District 58B.

We have a web site for Yoman Brunson and we will soon have a link to Grant Cermak.

Republicans in our district are concerned about:

  • Civil rights the Democrats want to take away.
•Proposed tax increases on the poor and middle class.
•How the City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Public Schools were wasting money with no accountability and when challenged on this they blame Republicans (when Democrats have had control for over 4 decades).
•Crime on the North side of Minneapolis.
•Declining enrollment in public schools because of no discipline and the lack of a quality education. How we should have a voucher system sincethe Democrats refuse to take corrective action on these problems.
•Although the Democrats were quick to point out the 35W bridge collapse was the Republicans' fault when they were the ones who kept putting the replacement off), they want to delay replacement of the remaining fractured critical bridges in the State of Minnesota.

5th Congressional Candidate Barbara Davis White spoke about her campaign. She expressed that she is looking forward to working with both Grant and Yoman.

The 5th Congressional District (CD5) Republicans' endorsing convention will be held on April 5th in Robinsdale. SD 58 delegates and alternates were elected for the 5th CD convention. If you were on the ballot as an alternate to the 5th CD and wish to know your ranking as an alternate, please email Dan at Dan-Niesen@live.com.

The State Convention (Mayo Civic Center May 29-31 9:00 AM) is going to be a fun event with lots of speakers. We also elected delegates and alternates to the state convention.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the campaigns so please go to one of the candidates' websites or contact a member of the SD 58 Executive Committee. Thank You.

  • Hundreds of WMDs Found in Iraq

Since most of the news services are completely ignoring this (maybe due to embarrassment):

Hundreds of WMDs Found in Iraq

Here's a link from Fox news.

Say you heard it here first. Bush was right!

Too good to be true? PCR is for real!

Follow this link to the Minnesota GOP website page on the Political Contribution Refund (PCR) to find out everything you have wondered and more!
We at SD58 would like to encourage you to donate to endorsed State Republican Candidates or our SD58 Republicans. When you donate you can receive $50 back from the State of Minnesota. Another way of saying it if you were to donate $50 or more per person per year to the SD58 Republicans you would get $50 back after you filled out the Political Contribution Refund Form (PCR).
